Rare Color Lofts [recessive-red]

Rare Color Lofts

This is our page covering recessive-red pigeons

Recessive-red coloring is relatively uncommon in Racing Homers. It is found in two main varieties (or families). The Meulemans, and the Janssens. The Meulemans tend to exhibit a spattering of white feathers in random locations throughout the birds, as well as occasional white flights or tail feathers. The red coloring is normally solid and deep, but the overall color effect is marred by the white feathers.

The Janssens are free of the bothersome white feathers, but have historically been of a lesser ("unimproved") recessive-red color quality. We are correcting this problem, and are now producing very rich deep ("improved") recessive-reds in our Janssen family.
